During the prosecution of one association which advertised prizes' of £50,000, though only .7000 tiokets were sold, equal to £3OOO, the prosecution pointed out that it was not true that sweepstakes which were conducted by clubs were legal. It should be known that those engaging in lotteries wero liable to be treated as rogues and vagabonds' and lined. It might even be necessary to send them "to prison.
