EX-SOLDIER SETTLERS.

REVALUATION OF HOLDINGS. DISTRICT COMMITTEES. AN INCREASE EXPECTED. (By Telegraph.—Special to Times.) WELLINGTON, Friday. Although the Minister does not propose to make any statement on the question at the present juncture, it is understood that there will be more district revaluation committees than one for each of the 11 land districts in the Dominion. The Inquiry boards that reported to the Government on the condition of soldier-settlers and their blacks covered a land district each, but it is felt that such an allocation would involve too much work and consequent delay on the part of revaluation committees in getting their reports forward to the Dominion Revaluation Board. It is considered likely that where thero are a large number of holdings there will bo two district committees for one land district. Thus Auckland, Hawke’s Bay, Taranaki, Wellington and Otago may have two committees allotted to them, while Marlborough, Nelson, Westland, Canterbury and Southland may have one each. ' COMMITTEES ALLOTTED. By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, Saturday. The Acting Minister of Lands states that as a result of a meeting of the Dominion Revaluation Board this week it was decided that the various land districts of the Dominion be allotted district revaluation committees as follows:—Wellington, Canterbury, and Otago, threo each; North Auckland, South Auckland, Taranaki, Nelson and Southland, two each; Gisborne, Hawke's Bay, Marlborough, and Westland, one each. These committees will be allotted certain counties and work of revaluation. An announcement of the personnel will be made In a few days. It is hoped that a majority of the members of inquiry boards that reported to the Government on settlers and their blocks will be available for this duty.
