IRISH FREE STATE.
GENERAL ELECTION. 1 CABINET GAINING STRENGTH. Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn. LONDON, August 13. The Dublin correspondent of the Daily Telegraph, commenting on the Irish -Free State elections, states that there is little doubt of the return of the present Administration. Its credit has never been so high as at present. The people are now realising the benefits of Dominion status, and the Free State is slowly but surely evolving order out of chaos. In only one respect does this election bear similarity to its predecessors that is the absence of pronounced political parties. Excepting De Valera whose power is steadily diminishing, all the groups appealing to the electorate are for the treaty, and differ from the Government only on minor points.
The elections are being conducted according to proportional representation, with complete adult suffrage for the first time.
