N.Z. SPORTING REVIEW.
An incomparably high standard is attained in this week's issue of the "N.Z. Sporting and Dramatic Review" which abounds in illustrations of unsurpassed merit and covering a diversity of attractions. Brilliant scenes at Roval Ascot, when the King's horse won the Royal Hunt Cup, occupy a prominent place and the marriage of the Oueen's niece is also the subject of a~ special set. Gisborne is particularly favoured in being given a double page of attractive portraits depicting the classical and national dance recital by pupils of Miss Flora Shaw. The Poverty Bay and Waikohu teams will attract the attention of football enthusiasts. The New Zealand cross country championship at Ghristchurch is represented in a comprehensive fashion and the Auckland versus Taranaki representative match at Eden Park, also the New Plymouth versus Grammar School coiitcst for the Moascar Gup, is covered in an interesting selection of animated snapshots. More than local interest is attached to a page of photographs showing the Great [South Road improvements and the new tram route 1.0 Ellerslio racecourse. The enormous school of whales which was stranded at Whangarei is a source ol special attention and sheep farming in the snow in Central Gtago gives an idea of the wide range of subjects portrayed in this issue. Mr. Rus-sell-Wood's students to appear in a dramatic recital in Hamilton add to the picturesque value of the publication. Stage and cinema have their own special niche in an up-to-date journal. The paper is on sale at all stationers and booksellers.
