DISTRICT NEWS.

NGAHINEPOURL Dairying. Once again the milking season has come round, and from now on the dairy farmers can expect a busy time. Although it seems rather early practically all the farmers have a number of cows in, and the cream cart has again commenced to run. With the early start which has been made we can look forward to a long and successful season, and this district should produce a record amount of buttcr-fat, as a number of extra cows will be milked this year. Till the warm, growing weather begins, a number of the dairymen will be rather short of feed for their herds, as the frosts and the cold biting winds we are experiencing have cut down the feed, and the grass paddocks have a very white appearance. Lambing.

The lambing season Is now in full swing, and with the clear, frosty weather, there have been very few losses. Although the earlier months were wet, the sheep appear to have come through in fine condition, and there is every promise of a good percentage of lambs. Meeting of Dairy Farmers. Last Monday evening a meeting of dairy farmers was held in the Ngahinepouri Hall, Mr Parker, who is standing as a director for the Dairy Company, being present. Mr Grace, of the Dairy Farmers’ Union, was also present. Mr Parker addressed the meeting, giving his views on the workings of the company. At the close of the meeting a vote of confi - dence in the speaker was proposed, and this was carried. The Union had arranged to hold a concert after the meeting, but most of the performers were down with the influenza. This had to he postponed till a future date. However, a dance was held instead, and all those present thoroughly enjoyed themselves. A sumptuous supper was supplied by the union, and was done full justice to. The music was kindly supplied by the local players, Mr R. Gillard-carrying out the duties of M.G. in an efficient manner.
