Rev. Dr. A. Callaghan will be the preacher at evensong at St. Peter’s, Hamilton, to-morrow. Mr A. Tosh, of Dargaville, has been appointed testing officer to the Norfolk Herd Testing Association, Morrinsville. Sir James Allen has left Constantinople en route for the Gallipoli battlefields and Anzac cemeteries. Mr Hugh McPherson, of Rotorua, has been appointed district constable at Te Whaiti to fill the vacancy caused by the demise of the late Mr Andrew M. Grant, who died on the Bth ult. as a result of injuries /received in the train accident near Ongarue. The Labour Councils in Sydney, Adelaide, Melbourne, and Perth have nominated Mr E. J. Holloway, secretary of the Melbourne Council, as the Labourite delegate to the Geneva Conference. —Sydney cable. Mr F. G. Matthews, late private i secretary to the Hon. C. J. Parr, has been appointed collector of customs and receiver of revenue at Samoa, and leaves for Samoa, via Auckland, .next week. Mr W. A. Porter, of Hamilton, has been re-appointed organiser to the Waikato Sub-Provincial branch of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union. Mr Porter formerly occupied the same position, but owing to ill-health was compelled to resign. Messrs A. S. Trower and P. M. Curnow, of the New Zealand Immigration and Land Settlement League, arrived in town this morning in connection with preliminary arrangements for the meeting convened by the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce to consider vital land settlement problems. Two prominent members of the Eitham Glee Club, Mr. and Airs. M. E. Fitzgerald, who are leaving Eitham to live at Matamata, were farewelled by the club. A warm tribute to their work given in connection with various organisations and movements was paid by the conductor of the club. Mr. T. B. Crump, who, on behalf of the members, presented the guests of the evening with a finely-mounted picture. At the annual meeting of the New Zealand Automobile Union the following officers were elected: —President, Air Howard Bootli (Wairarapa); vicepresidents, Messrs A. J. Toogood (Wairarapa) and A. Grayson (Auckland) ; executive committee, Messrs C. AI. Banks, L. A. Edwards, N. R. Bain, B. L. Donne, T. Hunt, H. Lloyd, F.

White, and Dr. C. P. Knight; secretary and treasurer, Air H. J. Stott.
