WOMAN MOLESTED.
WARD STREET INCIDENT.
VICTIM SEVERELY HANDLED,
SUFFERING SHOCK.
A case of cowardly assault on a young woman occurred in the vicinity of Ward Street, at about it o'clock one night this week. The young lady was returning home from the pictures, wheeling her bicycle along the footpath, when a man came up from behind, and placing his hand over her mouth to stiile her screams, dragged her up an alleyway, where she was rather severely handled. Fortunately,' a passer-by happened along almost immediately after the attack, and the marauder took to his heels and disappeared into the darkness.
The girl was suffering severely from shock, and was in a hysterical condition' when rescued.
The police are actively engaged in tracking the miscreant, and further developments may be soon expected.
