MANNERS AND MEN.

(To the Editor.) Sir, —"Once Wed" apparently struct a bad snag when he visited the altar, and is now accounting all womenfolk the same as his late dear departed. He does not say whether she departed from the earth altogether or merely from his hearth and home. Whichever it was, he and she apparently did not hit things too well, and there are always too sides to a question of this kind. Probably if his good lady were asked her opinion she would give mere man just as big a thrashing as

"Once Wed" gave woman in your ! Saturday's issue. I have read this : correspondence in the Times on "Manners and Men" with a good deal '■of interest, and I regret that some abler pen than mine has not taken up .the woman's cause. The letters appear to be chiefly from -men, and as thev are mostly of a scathing nature, thev only go to further prove that 'New Arrival" was correct in her first assertion that manly manners are declining.—l am, etc.. I WITHERING WOMAN.

(To the Editor.) Sir, —Re the letters which appeared in your Saturday's paper and signed "Old Adam," "Once Wed" and "Enery Enpeck," I do think it unfair the way these gentlemen are blighting our lives; I might say for the benefit of these people who so love to pull we girls to pieces that they are always ready to assist when they arc not wanted, and it is just like their cheek -to put the faults of the females into i print If we are quicker at seeing the brighter side of life, when for years •past we have put up with the miserable homes that have been made for us, why do-thev want to treat us so inhumanly? If I had Mr "Once Wed" for a few weeks I would soon show ■him how to look young, and also how to respect a loving wife. As for Bill Ithe Milker," how dare he suggest rushing us like a bull at a gate. Now ! girls, stick together and we shall win Ithe day. —I am, etc., „_„_ | CONNIE PENNO. Frankton, July 23, etc..
