A SOCCER INCIDENT.
REFEREE RESENTS REMARKS. LEAVES FIELD OF PLAY. On Saturday afternoon at Scdd.on Park there was an unexpected incident which will probably be (.lie subject of further investigation. The soccer championship final was down to be played on that occasion in which the teams were United and Morrinsvillc, and Ihe referee Mr J- N. Irvine, of Hamilton.. The game was not long in progress. when certain remarks were passed from Ihe louehlinc, 'it is understood, which the referee had cause to take cognisance o'f. However, his warning appears lo have gone unheeded, and the next step was that Mr Irvine left the field of play, and Hie control of the game, play in which was consequently abandoned.
The matter has been reported to the Association, which will investigate
