LEAGUE FOOTBALL.
LOWER WAIKATO COMPETITION. The League competitions in the Lower Waikato were continued last Saturday. In the senior round Ngaruawahia defeated Orini by 12 points to 6. The ground was in a very bad condition —a veritable pond of water, and good football was out of the question. Taupiri had perforce to forfeit to Huntly on account of a shortage in the team.
In the junior round, after a close game, Taupiri defeated Huntly by 6 points to 3 on the Taupiri ground. Good football was out of the question on account of the sloppy field, but both teams, despite the handicap, bandied the ball well. In forward work the Taupiri team were a little the better, while in the back division Huntly had a slight advantage. On Saturday, at Huntly, the local seniors and Ngaruawahia will play off lor the championship, when a keen match is expected. In the junior round Huntly, Taupiri and Rotowaro have still a say in the final result.
