SWIMMING COUNCIL LIABLE.

During the New Zealand swimming championships, 'Francis Balt.on, Of Wanganui, left a watch and other articles with the caretaker of the municipal bathing sheds, and the articles were stolen. Boiton claimed from the Council the value of the articles, £44 4s 9d. in giving judgment for plaintiff for the amount claimed, and costs £3 19s, the magistrate said the caretaker did not exercise reasonable care, and that there had been gross negligence.
