ALLEGED FORGERY.

GOVERNMENT CLERK CHARGED.' By Telegraph.—Press Association. WELLINGTON', Wednesday. Frank Victor Herbert Coull, former clerk of the Repatriation Department, was charged at the Magistrate’s Court with forgery and three counts of conspiring with E. W. McCardell to defraud the Government of £SO. The forgery charge referred to an alleged bogus application for a loan to Frank Ward. Accused was described as being the interviewing officer in respect to loans for furniture. The application for a loan and 'the instructions to applicant were in accused’s writing, and on iho day following the application accused represented the case as urgent, and a loan was recommended by the officer in charge and a cheque was issued and cashed at the bank. No person of applicant's name was known at the address given.

After evidence had been heard, accused pleaded not guilty, reserved ids defence, and was committed for trial.
