The second qualifying round for the Gleneagles 1000 guineas’ golf competition was played in beautiful weather, and was notable for brilliant scores. Jones, aged 52, a veteran professional of Wimbledon Park, played flawlessly, and broke the record for the course with a round in 67, going out in 35 and returning in 32. This was the best effort in his long career. Kirkwood' did not live up to his form yesterday, and took 75. The scores for the second round and the aggregates are as follow: —Oke, 70 and 143; Ball, 70 and 145; Ray, 73 and 146; Kirkwood, 75 and 146; Barnes, 74 and 147: Havers, 75 and 147- The 32 leaders begin match play to-morrow.
