POULTRY SHOW TROUBLE.
EXHIBITORS' DISSATISFACTION AN EXPLANATION REQUIRED. By Telegraph.—Special to Times. PALMERSTON N., Thursday. The recent Hamilton Poultry Show came in for some very severe criticism at the annual meeting of the North Island Poultry Association last evening, caustic reference being made to the fact that several southern exhibitors who had been exhibiting there this year had not received their birds back until more than a week after the show. Instances were cited of cases where valuable birds had been returned in a condition that debarred them from competition for some considerable time, some delegates going as far as to state that certain birds in consequence of the delay experienced were almost dead on arrival at their destination. Complaints were to be heard from all parts of the North Island over the matter, and many breeders had avowed their intention of never supporting Hamilton again. Mr S. Milligan (Horopito) pointed out that similar occurrences often took place at other shows, and that in any case Hamilton might have an explanation to make that would clear the whole matter. Another delegate, however, maintained that the fact that the Hamilton body was affiliated to tile North Island Association should serve as a guarantee to exhibitors, and he moved that in view of the apparent mis-manage-ment Hamilton should bo refused a permit to show next year.
The motion, however, was considered too drastic, and it was resolved to as k the Waikato Winter Show Association for an explanation.
