BUILDING TRADES.
ASSOCIATION FORMED. -) At a largely-attended meeting held in the Toorak Chambers on Wednesday night, it was resolved to form an association to be known as “The Hamilton Sub-Contractors and Builders Suppliers’ Association,” the idea being to make rules and regulations governing matters of interest to subcontractors, etc., in the building trades. The meeting was very enthusiastic. All the trades connected with building were represented. Mr S. V. Tyler (of Booth and Chapman, Ltd.) was unanimously elected president of the new association; Mr J. Kirkwood (of Kirkwood, Thurston and Co.) hon. secretary; Mr Tomlinson (of the N.Z. Home Builders, Ltd.) hon. treasurer.
A committee representing every trade connected with building was appointed to draw up rules and regulations, etc., and to report to the ne?ct meeting.
A general discussion took place on matters of interest to the association. Members gave various experiences in trade, and many valuable suggestions were made.
