WAIKATO HOSPITAL.

MONTHLY BOARD MEETING. . At the monthly meeting of the Wai-, kato Hospital Board, held jn Hamilton yesterday, there were present Messrs J. P. Bailey (chairman), G. Johnstone, J. B. Teasdale, J. J. Ryburn, F., Potts, A. Blackman, C. J. W- Barton, A. Dent, 11. E. Tristram, R. Seavill, W. I. Conradi (secretary) and Dr. Gower. The Minister of Health wrote notifying that he did not think that the Rotorua and Taupo counties could conveniently form a hospital district. If, however, they were combined with Bay of Plenty and Tauranga with the present King George V. Hospital as a base hospital a.suitable district might be formed. Such a proposal, however, would no doubt meet with strenuous opposition from the two districts concerned. —Received’. In regard to dental treatment of patients at Pukeora and Otaki Sanatoriums, King George V. Hospital (Rotorua) and Queen Mary Hospital (Hanmerj, the Department of Health advised that in guaranteeing the fees of patients at these institutions boards should bear in mind that in addition thereto they would be-charged for such patients who require dental treatment. —Received. . The Department of Health inquired the position regarding the proposed establishment of a cottage hospital on the site recently acquired by the Board at Te Kuiti. The chairman stated that the Board could do nothing until the various local bodies had made, their respective contributions. The matter would prob. ably right itself in time, but it was obvious that the county boundaries would have to be definitely adjusted before finality could be reached. —The letter was therefore received, add the secretary.instructed to furnish the Department with the reasons fdr the delay. The Department of Health wrote suggesting several additions to the proposed maternity home at Matamata, the plan of which the Board had sent forward for approval.—Tenders to be called for the additions. The Board was asked by the Departmedt of Health as to whether it had considered the proposal to pay 9s and 4s 6d per diem for patients from this district at the King George V. tfos-. pital.—Resolved to give a total of £9oo' per year. * The Patea Hospital Board requested the Board’s support of the following resolution: "That the Government be approached with a view to establishing* a suitable establishment for the treatment of border-line mental cases which were not sufficiently serious to be admitted to a mental asylum.— Board’s support to be given. The Auckland Hospital Board wrote that the agreement entered into between it and the. Waikato Board, by which the Auckland body paid to the Waikato Board £IOO per annum .In adjustment of any claims that, might arise', had since expired. The Auckland Board, however, did not propose to renew it, but was willing to enter into an arrangement with the Waikato Board embodying complete reciprocity —A reciprocal agreement to be entered into.

Messrs Swarbrick and Swarbrick asked for the Board’s conseht to the Stevenage Storage Co.’s transfer. Board’s consenS to be given. Mrs A- Blamires asked for the Board’s consent in terms o£ the lease to her mortgaging her interests in lease of part allotment ,362, Hamilton West, to the Union Bank of Australia, Ltd.- —Granted. \ - % Mrs W. J. Hunter notified that she did not wish to continue the lease of allotment No. 340 of hospital endowment land. —Received, and the land to be subdivided.

The Finance Committee were authorised to place a sum on the estimates for the purchase of a motor lawn, mtfwer to cope with the great growth of grass on the lawns in the Hospital grounds.
