BRITISH ELECTIONS
HOW BRITAIN VOTED PARTY AGGREGATES PARLIAMENT TO MEET THURSDAY. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) LONDON, November 18. Mr Bonar Law has announced that the King will open Parliament on No-' vember 23. and that approval of the Irish constitution will be. immediately sought. Lord Curzon, in a summons to the House of Lords, says that the session will be LV'icf, and will be devoted mainly to Irish affairs.
An analysis of the aggregate votes cast at the election, according to returns received to date, gives the following:— Conservatives . 5,746,000 Labour ..♦.,- 4,356,000 Independent Liberals . 2,769,000 National Liberals .. 1,565,000 The election, of a representative for London University resulted: —
LSir" Sydney Russell-Wells (Con.) 3833 Mr Pollard (Lib.) 2,180
Mr H. G. Wells (Labour) 1,427 Voting for two members to represent Fermanagh and Tyrone as a single constituency, resulted in the return of Mr Harrison (Nationalist) and Mr C. Healy (.Sinn Feiner).
EIGHT RECOUNTS ORDERED
NARROW MAJORITIES,
(Australian and N.Z.-Cable Assn.) LONDON, November 17. Eight recounts arc necessary in con-nection-Kwith the election. In Derbyshire North a recount reduced the Labour majority over Mr Holmes (Liberal) from 14 to 5.
