SECESSION OF A RIDING
TAHUNA JOINS PIAKO COUNTY

At a special meeting of the Huuraki Plains County Council, a deputation of Taliuna Hiding settlers asked that the Council should agree to the proposed secession of the riding, as a majority of ratepayers wished In join Pinko County. The spokesman explained that all access was from ihe railway at Morrinsville and To Arohu, and Ihe geographical eondilions were siic.li Dial there was no community of interest with northern ridings. 'l'lte Council agreed with the contention.
Councillors discussed the apportionment of costs of certain bridges and oilier works. The two bodies will meet at an early date, agree as lo a basis of adjustment, and transference will be agreed to. Piako has agreed to accept Taliuna Hiding.
