TE RAPA DRAINAGE BOARD
CONFERENCE WITH COUNTY COUNOIL. A conference took place yesterday between representatives of the Waipa County Council and of the Te Rapa Drainage Board. The representatives made a tour of the Drainage Board's district to determine some satisfactory basis of contribution from the County Council towards the work of the board where such work was benefiting the roads under the control of the Council.
A meeting was subsequently held in Hamilton, when the representatives of the county decided to recommend to their Council to lower the pipes on Grand Vue road and to make an annual contribution, the actual amount of which was to be fixed at next meeting of the Council. It was agreed to co-operate in making representations to the Minister to obtain a better system in connection with valuation rolls as supplied to local bodies. Other matters discussed were cooperation in subdivisional plans so that adequate draining might be provided, standard survey, and deposit of spoil from drains. The chairman of the board thanked the representatives of the County Council for the cordial manner in which they had met the board and discussed matters of joint interest.
