MILAN MUNICIPALITY
PRODIGAL COUNCILLORS MAYOR AND COUNCIL DEPOSED. A HUGE DEFICIT, (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) ■ ROME, August 31. The Mayor, and Council of Milan have been deposed from office by a Royal decree. The report declares dial they carried out a political • programme detrimental do the city’s interests, and indulged in lavish expenditure in socialising amusements, dispensaries, schools,- and other functions, whilst neglecting real improvements and public utilities. Notwithstanding increased rates the municipal budget showed a deficit of 300,000,000 lire. The Fascists therefore were justified in taking over the administration.
