ROTOTUNA. Valodlctcry Social. On Friday evening a valedictory social was held in the local bchool, In honour of Mr and Mrs W. Sing, on the eve of Uieir departure from Hototuna. Mr Sing lias managed the local creamery and casein factory since its erection. A programme of exceptional merit was rendered by some of the office staff of the N.Z.C.D.C., practically every performer being compelled to respond to an encore. The programme was as follows: — Song, "Waltita Poi," Miss H. Walker; song, "Jogging Along," Mr E. V. Quick; recitation, "The Obstructive Hat," Miss V. Brooks; song, "Bide-a-Wee," Miss M. McLean; monologue, "Annie Laurie," Mr A. J. Sinclair; song, "Until," Miss Walker; song, "My Old Shako'," Mr Quick; duet,

"Fairings," Misses Walker and McLean; recitation, "After Marriage," Miss Brooks; song, "Angus McDonald," Miss McLean. In the course of the evening Mr F. W. Thomas, chairman of the gathering, voiced the feelings of all when he regretted the departure of Mr and Mrs Sing from our midst. In Mr Sing we are losing one who served the district well, both as factory manager and neighbour, and while regretting their departure on our account, we congratulate them on a well merited promotion. Mr Thomas then requested Mrs Totman (president of the Ladies' Guild) to fasten on Mrs Sing's wrist a gold wristlet watch as a mark of esteem, and to Mr Sing was presented a barometer as a token of the esteem and respect in which he is held. Mr A. J. Sinclair, assistant manager of the N.Z.C.D.C, spoke In eulogistic terms of Mr Sing from the management's point of view. Men like Mr Sing, who, while loyally carrying on to the satisfaction of the management, are also fortunate in retaining Hip respect and confidence of the suppliers, are especially valuable. Tlic casein produ'et, turned out at Rotoluna during Mr Sing's term of management exceeded in quality any produced in the company's territory, and possibly in the whole of New Zealand. In recognition of the fact that Mr Sing has served the Company well in this capacity, lie is now called to on e of higher responsibility.

Mr Sing made suitable reply on behalf of his wife and himself.

A hearty vole of thanks to the Hamilton talent for an enjoyable evening was proposed by Mr Thomas, seconded by Mr Wilson, and carried by acclamation. The singing of "Auld Lang Syne" terminated the musical part of Ihe evening's entertainment. A dainty supper, provided bv local ladies, was dispensed, after which the room was cleared, and dancing indulged in- The music was supnlied by Mr J. Prussing, and Mr A. M. Wilson occupied the position of M.C. The piano was kindly lent for Ihe occasion by Mr .T. Casey,
