Mi' Benjamin Lee, a merchant, submitted evidence before the Federal sugar inquiry In the effect that lie was authorised lo purchase sugar in Java for the Commonwealth, but after making a deal he was advised that (lie Commonwealth was dealing in oilier channels. He could have saved the Commonwealth £07,000 in three deals had the purchases been made through him.
