LABOUR PARTY'S POLICY
DISTINCTION SANS DIFFERENCE.
THE PREMIER AND MR HOLLAND
By Telegraph —Special to Times. WELLINGTON, Tuesday.
Mr Massey was reported to have said at Foxton that the policy of the Labour Party was confiscation, and that members of tfye party admitted it.
Mr H. E. Holland, leader of the Labour party, raised the question in the House- to-day. He said he was sure the Prime Minister was not responsible for "such a foolish lie."
Mr Massey raised a point of order at once. He objected to his name being coupled with this phrase.
Mr Holland said he had never suggested that the Prime Minister was responsible for "that lie." He was asking his question merely in order that Mr Massey's denial of the report might go forth to the country.
Mr Massey said he remembered saying that the policy of the Labour party was one of nationalising the means of production, distribution and exchange. Mr Holland: "Quite right."
Mr Massey: "If that is not confiscation I do not know what confiscation means!"
Mr Holland: "But the report says the party admitted it." Mr Massey: "Does the hon. gentleman deny that his policy is one of nationalising, distribution and exchange? How is he going to get them?"
Mr Holland did not reply to the question.
