ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
ACCIDENT TO MOTOR LORRY. TWO PASSENGERS INJURED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCIIURCH, Tuesday. A party of 50 territorials were returning to New Brighton frorn Redoliffc Rifle Range in a Defence Department lorry, when the big box body become detached from the chassis, throwing all the men out. One had his wrist broken, and a civilian, who was (ravelling on Hie lorry al his own risk suffered a broken collarbone. Luckily the men were flung on to a patch of soft sand. FATHER AND DAUGHTER INJURED. NAPIER. Tuesday. While a man named Woodson was sharpening a pencil in the presence of his little daughter, a detonator cap in his hand exploded. The girl was badly injured, her sight being affected, and the father lost the top of one finger and thumb. A FATAL CAPSIZE. OAMARU, Tuesday. As the result of the capsizing of a dray, at Tokarahi, yesterday, Jack Budge, It, the son of a farmer, was killed, and Leslie Gibb, 6i, a son of a storekeeper, had his spine injured. The latter has been brought to the hospital. MAN FOUND DEAD. WITH GUN BESIDE HIM. WHAKATANE, Tuesday. Last evening the police were informed that, a man named MeCullough had been found dead in a tent. Deceased worked with the, Urewera survey party at Hatehi, about 20 miles out. The police left this morning to convey the body to Waimana, where an inquest will be held. Deceased was little known. He was previously employed as a waggoner.
