TE AWAMUTU v. HAMILTON. Six rinks from the Hamilton Club visited Te Awamutu on Saturday. A very enjoyable afternoon's bowling ended in a win for Te> Awamutu by nine points on Ihe aggregate. The scores were. (Hamilton players being mentioned first) :—Peterson, Brown, Lovcridge, Lymhurn (s) —17, v. White ( S ) —17; Whittaker, Booth, Jones, Coombes (s) —17, v. Northc (a) —20; Piatt, Hammond, Wilkes, Hyde (s) 17, v. Bowden (s) —23; Williams, Newman, Coltman, Pilkington. (s) IT), v. Mclnnes (s) —20; Masters, Moore, Hodgkinson, Condon (s) —21, v. Henderson (s)— 21; Ross, Parr, Andrews, Wilson (s) —20, v. Hawkins ( S ) —15. Totals —Hamilton 107, Te Awamutu 116.

PROGRESSIVE PAIRS. The Frankton Club held the official opening of the season on Saturday, when there was a large muster of players. A progressive pairs competition was played, and with the green in excellent order, some keen play was witnessed. Prior Lo the play being commenced, Mr Frasor Smith made a few appropriate words of welcome to the players. At the outset he apologised for the absence of the president (Mr J. Prenton), who is at present healthrecruiting at Rotorua, and extended the wishes of that gentleman and the committee of the Club to the members for a very successful season. Mr Smith made special reference to the efforts of the ladies' committee in providing afternoon tea during the season, and remarked further that, with the completion of the new pavilion, which work is now well under way, the,members would have the very fullest facilities for accommodation both on and off the green. The progressive pairs competition resulted in C. Brown and W. E. Burrow licing for the skips, and in the play off singles over five heads the latter won by a point. W. Crawshaw won the leads' competition, sustaining only one loss during the. afternoon. The prizes were handed ov>cr to the successful bowlers by Mr Smith, who congratulated them, upon the success achieved. Cheers were given the winners, the donors of trophies, and life ladies, who supplied an enjoyable afternoon tea on the green.
