At the hearing of a charge against two men, named Kerr and Walshe, of assaulting Constable Fisher while on night duly, on October 23, both accused swore that the constable attacked Kerr first, but the constable and a young man named Hall, who happened to be with him, swore that Kerr attacked the constable. Walshe looked on till Kerr went down, and then interfered. Hall went for another constable. The magistrate decided that accused were not to be believed, and sent Kerr to gaol forytwo months, with hard labour, and fined Walshe £lO.
