The latest feat of the "Overland Four” is to leap 10 feel in the air, and a lateral distance of 23 feet. This sounds a bit incredible, hut it is a fact nevertheless, and ihe wonderful prowess of this car is being demonstrated at the Waikato A. and P. Show, at present in progress. The car was tested yesterday, and the jump really exceeded expectations, and demonstrated its wonderful strength and workmanship. The force of Hie impact when the ear landed i-s equal to 42,0001 b, enough to crush a locomotive boiler like an egg-shell. After a careful examination of the car, following this daring jump, it was found lo be in the same condition as before. The springs, which are a wonderful feature of the cor, withstood the shock as though it were an everyday occurrence. Messrs Pomeroy and Co., Ltd., have gone to considerable trouble to put on this event for Ihe public edification, and no doubt they will be rewarded by increased Justness which is sure to follow such an unusual demonstration. Mr McCarty, who drives the car over the jump, has had considerable experience in different parts of New Zealand,.and says it is just like hitting a rut in a had piece of road.
