- PRISONERS’ DIGNITY KURT. (United Press Association.) Received October 10, 5.5 p.m. SYDNEY, October 10. The strike microbe has penetrated into the Pentridge prison. Following upon a search of the cells for contraband a large number of prisoners refused to work as a protest against what they claimed was a humiliating system. Prompt measures were taken to crush the revoltAt a subsequent inquiry 140 prisoners were charged with insubordination. The governor pleaded for leniency for the majority because tiny were coerced by the leaders. Sixty were sentenced to additional terms of imprisonment, ranging from one week to a month.
