Received October 4, 1.30 p.m. LONDON, October 3> A tragic affair occurred at the Galway Town Hall at a dance in aid of the Republican prisoners' dependantsA fracas started outside, shots broke the windows and the dancers threw themselves upon the floor to escape~t!ie flying bullets, one of which struck and killed Lieutenant Sou-chon, of' the 17th Regiment, who was motoring past the hall.

Another seriously -wounded a constable.

The cause of the trouble is not certain. One version is that the Crown forces attempted to enter the hall without payment and another that the Republican police tried to search the Grown forces in the vicinity of the building.
