NGAHINAPOURI-TUHIKARAIVSEA. Tennis. On Saturday, September 2i, the annual meeting of the Ngahinapouri Tennis Club was held in the hall, the president Mr J, J. Hyburn, being in Ihc chair. There was a fair number present. The balance-sheet showed about £.15 on hand, so the club is in a good financial position. It was decided to hold a handicap tournament early in the season, and trophies were kindly promised by Messrs F. M. Campbell, S. Rcid, F. Livingstone, and N. Reid. The following officers were elected: — President, Mr J. J. Ryburn; vice-presi-dents, Messrs E. S. Ryburn and A. 11. Tompkins: committee and selectors, Messrs S. Reid, F. Livingstone, and F. M. Campbell; secretary and treasurer, Mr H. Reid. Hockey At a general meeting of the Hockey Club on Tuesday, September 27, it was decided to hold a dance for the' finish of the hockey season on October 21, and we hope to see a large crowd present. Popular Lady Honoured. On Friday, September 30. a. very pleasant dance was held in the Ngahinapouri Hall, when a presentation was made to Mrs Linton by the people of this district, in appreciation of the splendid manner in which she had supplied the music for our dances for 'he past 2 years. On several occaisons Mrs Linton has been called upon at the ;ast. minute to play, and she had always willincly come forward and done the lion's share of the playing. Mr JJ. Ryburn made the presentation, which consisted of a handsome dock, a music case and a walking stick. Mi- Linlon. on behalf of Mrs Linlon. suitably responded, thanking those present, for the gifts and for the enjoyable evening they bad given Mrs Linlon. During Ihe evening sonirs were rendered by Mrs F. Livingstone and Miss M. Tomnkins. The ladies of Ihe districl kindly supplied Ihe music. Mr R. Gillard making an efficient M.O.
