FUNERAL OF CARUSO.
A CITY IN MOURNING, The funeral of Signer Caruso (says an English paper just received) took place at Naples, the crowd assembled in the square outside Hie Church of Francesco di Paola being so great that a cordon of troops experienced considerable difficulty in keeping it back. Windows, balconies and roofs were also filled with spectators- No such funeral has been witnessed in Naples for many years past. The hearse was covered with beautiful wreaths, including one from Queen Mary and one from the City of New York- A Requiem Mass was sung by the church of San Francesco di Paola by a choir of 200 voices, and Signor Delucia, the tenor. Then the coffin, composed of a crystal casket enclosed in wood, was transferred to a hearse drawn by six horses. Speeches having been delivered outside, the Church by the Prefect in the name of the King and the Government, by the Director of the Conservatoire, and by representatives of the Mayor and the artists of Naples, a, procession was formed with the Municipal Guards in front and clergy following behind. The hearse was covered with wreaths, and behind other carriages bore hundreds more. Funeral marches were [flayed as the hearse proceeded slowly from the Piazza del Plebiscite to the place of burial, where the rnflln was removed and lemporarily placed in the vault of the Canessa family. All the shops of the city closed in sign of mourning, and an aeroplane rlew above the funeral procession.
