TRENT CANAL
FIRST SOD CUT. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) Received Sept. 30. 5.5 p.m. ■ LONDON, Sept.. 29. The first sod in I lie Trent Navigation Canal, connecting Nottingham with the sea, was cut to-day. The enterprise will he only partially undertaken at present owing to the need for economy, hut ultimately it will he a full waterway, 250 feet wide at the-Notting-ham end with docks.
