JAPANESE NAVY
REDUCTION IN PERSONNEL. AS FROM SEPTEMBER 1. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) Received August 11, 8.10 p.m. TOKIO, August 10. The Navy Department announces that the personnel will be reduced by 20 per cent, on September 1, consequent on four battleships and 12 cruisers being transferred from the active list to coast defence. This is in pursuance of the decision to reduce naval expenditure.
