NEEDS OF HOSPSTAL DISTRICTS. At the Waikato Hospital Board's meeting yesterday Mr W. Hill (Rotorua) gave notice of motion as follows: "That this Board approves of the principle of establishing a Social Welfare Committee in any centre of population within a hospital district." The suggested primary duties of such a committee will be: (1) To investigate all local applications for outdoor relief; (2) to periodically review existing grants; (3) to investigate applications for reduction and remission of hospital fees; and (4) to make recommendations tu local representatives on hospital boards accordingly. The. Board will give consideration to the matter at its next meeting.
