FAT STOCK MARKET
WESTFIELD SALES. (special to Times). AUCKLAND, Wednesday. Alfred Buckland and Sons report that choice and prime ox were less plentiful at their weekly fat stock sales held today at the Westfield saleyards, and consequently values in these classes were firmer. As regards other classes last week's quotations ruled. Their beef pens contained 344 head, comprising 195 steers and 140 cows and heifers. Extra choice ox sold to £1 19s, an increase of 3s on last week's values; choice and prime, £1 12s to £i 17s, an advance of 2s; ordinary and plain, £1 7s to £1 10s; prime young- cow and heifer beef changed hands at prices ranging from £i 5s to £1 10s; ordinary cow'beef, 17s to £.l 4s; rough beef, 10s to 17s; heavy prime steers ranged in price from £ls 10s to £lB 10s, a £2 advance; lighter prime, £ll 10s to £l4 10s; light prime, £9 to £11; small and unfinished, £5 to £8 10s; heavy prime young cows and heifers sold from £9 10s to £l2; lighter cows and heifers, £6 t"o £8 10s; others, £2 10s to £5 10s.
