THE SPRINGBOKS' TOUR. SOUTH CANTERBURY BEATEN. Bv Telegraph.—Press Association. TIMARU, Thursday. . The weather was faultless and the ground dry and fast for the Springbok match. The attendance was 10,000. At. the opening the local team went off with a rush, and just missed a penalty. In the following tw r enty minutes the Springboks crossed midway on three occasions, the local team pressing, but meeting with a stubborn resistance. The visitors gradually shook off the attack. The first score came after twenty-three minutes by G. Morkel from a free kick, and shortly after 11. Morkel crossed the line. Then Wccpener and G. Morkel scored. South Canterbury pressed hard. They were awarded a free kick about 75 yards out, Scott registering a goal. At the interval the score was 16 to 3. In Mio secnml spell Hie visitors gave a great exhibition of a, clean, open game, outplaying their opponents in every department. They carped the score to 31, while South Canterbury did not improve its score.
