THE STRAND ATTRACTIONS. Another delighted audience greeted the unfolding of the unusually great four-star programme at the popular Strand Picture House last evening. In "The Brand of Lopez," which stars that popular Japanese actor, Sessue llayakawa, the Uriental artist has the part of a Spanish buil-iighter, who kills a man as a result of jealousy. and, repulsed by Ihe girl he loves, becomes an outlaw. The big dramatic scenes surpass any of llayakawa's previous productions. Earle Williams and a notable casl are also seen in Yilagraph's line picture, "Captain Swift." A special Christie comedy and No. 10 of "The Cost City" completes the splendid bill. CLARA K. YOUNG TO-MORROW. A special children's big matinee will be given to-morrow, when a special children's programme, including the return of the world's greatest laughter producer, Charlie Chaplin, in "The Shopwalker," will be screened. Clara Kimball Young also opens to-morrow in Ethel Barrymorc's greatest triumph, "Mid-Channel." The plans are at the Novelty Depot, where early reservations are urged.
"DARBY AND JOAN." There is no gainsaying Ihc fact that Sir Hall Game's great all-British motion picturing of his popular book, "Darby and .loan," in eight massive parts, is an artistic achievement of outstanding excellence. On Ihe films picture stories come and go, but the beautiful lale so admirably told in "Darby anil .loan" shows in the telling the genius of a master mind and Ihe touch of a master hand that will cause it to live in memory. It is true In life, i| lias no impossibilities, and it is absolutely clean and wholesome in every way. Such a picture deserves Ihe heartiest support of all sections or Ihe community. The singing oi" Miss Myra Ross of the songs, "Darby and Joan" and "Home. Swi'et Home," was a source of additional pleasure. Eddie Polo's "King of Ihe Circus" serial preceded Ihe chef d'ouvrc, and ils first excellent chapter was far in advance of Ihe ordinary serial. The season is to finish In-night, and patrons should reserve seals, as a big house is a foregone conclusion.
ROYAL ATTRACTIONS TO-MORROW. The first episode of Eddie Poio's great serial, "The King of the Circus," which starts off splendidly, will be shown at 10-moirow's matinee and every Saturday afternoon thereafter, but not on Saturday evenings. Tomorrow night's attractions will be very fine. Dorothy Phillips will present her wonderful performance in her famous 8000 ft jewel de luxe feature, and clever Eileen Percy will star in her brilliant offering, "Beware of the Bride." Seals should be reserved at Paul's. A special attendant will .bookseals at the theatre from 2 p.m.'until 7 o'clock on Saturday.
KIfJG'S THEATRE. , The most popular picture seen for la lt>n'-:' lime is the clever criminal piny, | "Blackmail," in which Viola Dana is a ' great favourite. "Blackmail" is worth going some distance to see. Another fiii' feature is Paramount'. l ; strong play, "Guilty of Love," with Dorothy Dalton starring. These exceptional films will f.nish to-night. Seats should be reserved over 'phono 1580 before 7 p.m. KING'S ATTRACTIONS TO-MORROW. Three star protluclions of the highest irrailo should pack Ihc popular King's Theatre to-morrow evening. The usual matinee will lake place at '-»..'! n p.m. The popular Western hero, Win. Russell, will present ids big hit. "The Twins of Suffering Greek," Enid Benncll will star in Paramount's spicy piclure, "Silk Hosiery," and Eileen Sedgwick will continue the popular "Diamond Queen" serials. Box plans arc at Paul's.
