DEFERRED SUBSIDIES COUNCIL'S REQUEST, The Waikato County chairman (Mr J. P. Bailey; and the County clerk (Mr T. B. Insoll) asked the Minister of Public Works, Hon. J. G. The Minister said lie would do no such thing. He was nol going to pile up liabilities for himself or his successor. The Council could go on with the expenditure of ils own money, but where a subsidy was on the £ for r. basis he would not advise any local body to proceed will work unl.il the subsidy was actually sanctioned.
