CROQUET
FRANKTON TOURNAMENT. The Franklon tournament was concluded yesterday. The final in the singles between Mrs Philpott (Morrinsvillc), who won her section without a defeat, and Mrs Forbes (FrankIn,:!) was a great struggle. Three games had to be played, Mrs Forbes winning Hie first and Mrs Philpott Hie next two. The president. Mr T. Johnson, in presenting the prizes, thanked the visiting players for Iheir numerous entries. It was expected to finish the linals last Saturday, but, owing- to the large entries and the keen play, it had been extended to Wednesday. The, speaker also thanked I hi' officials for the manner in which I hey had carried out their duties, special mention being made of the tournament secretary, Mrs Belsrave. The following were the prizewinners: — Doubles: Mcsdames Iliggins and Forbes; runncrs-up, Mcsdames Hyde and Hull. Singles: Mrs Philpott; runner-up, Mrs Forbes. Mrs Philpott suitably replied on behalf of the visitors.
