RAILWAY ACCIDENT
THREE MEN INJURED. A collision betvveen a railway "jigger" ami the "mixed" train from Huntly to Hamilton this morning resulted in two men being removed to the Waikato Hospital. It. appears that lliree men oil a "jigger"'wen; proceeding to work at about 8.1") this morning, wlipn suddenly, some two miles this side of Horotiu, from out of the thick fog which prevailed at the time, there appeared the train from Huntly. A man named T. George Valliley, who was driving, acting with extraordinary presence of mind, immediately jumped off the trolley, and attempted to pull it off the line. He was Loo late, however, to avert a collision, and he and his companions. William Oates, a man about 40 years of age, and W. White, were both injured in the resultant smash. Valliley, to whose action undoubtedly the men owe their lives, sustained a broken leg. The ambulance was immediately summoned, and Valliley and Oates were removed to the hospital, where, at latest advices, they were progressing satisfactorily.
