WANT OF CONFIDENCE

MR WILFORD'S AMEN DMEN T REFORM POLICY ATTACKED. WHEAT GROWERS' GRIEVANCES. (By Telegraph—Special to Times.) WELLINGTON, Tuesday. The debate on the Address-in-Reply was continued in the afternoon and etenlng. Mr Massey indicated, in reply to a requisition by the Speaker, that he accepted Mr T. M. Wilford's amendment as a want of confidence motion. Mr Sidey (Dunedin South), who is Mr Wilfont's first lieutenant in the leadership in the official Opposition, spent an hour in pointing' out the sins of the Government. It is Mr Sidey's misfortune to possess a thin, small vcice that is only occasionally audible in the galleries. The Government meuibt'rs worn sitting tight and Mr Forbes (Liberal Party) followed Mr Sidey. He blamed the Government for inflating [and values by the reckless purchase of estates for soldiers, and continued that thepublic ought to have more information about these purchases. He also a'cused the Government of failing to keep faith with tl e wheat growers, who considered they were not getting the Australian parity for this year's crop. This brought the Minister for Agriculture (Hon. W. Nosworthy) to his feet in a brief defence of his policy, and other members continued the debate.
