OHINEMURI RACES DEAD HEAT IN THE CUP. THE CONCLUDING EVENTS. (By Telegraph—Special tn Times.) PAEROA, Saturday. The following are Lliu concluding events of the first day's racing:— OHINEMURI CUP.—H miles. Gold Kip, 8.9 (Goldlineh) . . • Managamahoc, 7.i (Maskcry) * War Tank, G. 7 (George) » . . . 3 (•Dead Heal). Also started: — Geo,ffrey, Tinolioro, Right and Left, Prince Charleroi, Blue Cross. The race was a fine one. From a good start Geoffrey went to the front with Blue Cross and Tinolioro following. As the field passed the stand the first time Tinolioro was leadwith Prince Charleroi, Geoffrey, War Tank, Blue Cross, Marigamahoe, Gold Kip and Right and Left racing in that order. Racing along the back Tinolioro ¥vas still the pilot, hut the field behind Hie leader was very hunched Across the lop War Tank had run up to second position behind Tinolioro, with Gold Kip, Right and Left and Geoffrey handy in the running. When the field rounded lo the straight and the serious business began, Tinolioro soon lost pride of place. They were all hard at it, and the positions were frequently changed between this point and ttie judge's box. Gold Kip was loudly proclaimed the winner when Mangamahoe came on the scene on the outer, and finishing full of running got up in time to dead heat with Gold Kip. War Tank was in third place, and Geoffrey fourth. It was a clinking finish. Time 2.7*. Geoffrey was favourite. KOMATA HACK HANDICAP.—Six furlongs. Night Time, 8.8 (Goldfinch) . 1 Oak Abbey, 7.7 2 Monanec, 8.8 3 Also started: Knighton, Salvaless, Araluen. .lolie Princess, Awareka, Some Fashion, Mavourneen, Ihapotoa, Merry Nell, Lady Lilac, Puketoa, Waikaretu. Night Time was the first to break the line, followed by Jolie Princess and Mavourneen. The leader increased his advantage racing across the top and turned into the straight well clear. Mavourneen was the nearest attendant, and Jolie Princess and Knighton were following as the Held turned for home. Down the running Night Time held his own to win by a length, with Menance a similar distance off in third place, and Waikaretu fourth. Time 1.16 4-5. Night Time was favourite. PAEROA STEEPLECHASE HANDICAP. About 2£ miles. Capsal, 10.9 (Copestake) ... 1 Battletide, 10.12 2 First Call, 11.8 3 Also 'started: Luperino, Totara Jack, Harbour Light, Kautahoe, Boko. Lady Sabretache and Space. First Call went to the front quickly, and jumping the fences cleverly, led the field for close, on a mile and three-quarters. It wsa soon shown that Battletide and Capsal were the pair who were to seriously contend with the leader. As the field crossed the stand double the first time, First Call, Space and Battletide was the order. Totara Jack refused to jump at this stage, and Boko was running a long way last. Capsal and Battletide were close behind First Call as the double was reached the second time. Turning to the hack the leader was beaten. That Capsal and Battletide had the issue between them was plain, barring accident. They raced to the hurdle at the bottom of .the straight practically together. Battletide knocked his fence and Capsal got to the front at this stage to carry on and win by two lengths. First Call finished twelve lengths further back in third place, and Luperino was fourth. Boko finished a long way back. Time 5.3. Luperino was favourite. ST. PATRICK'S HANDICAP.—Six , furlongs. Tama-a-roa. 9.6 (MeTavish) 1 Lord Kenilworth, 8.0 .> 2 Lightning, 7.1 3 Also started: Queen Abbey, Infante, Khublai Khan and Gold Plane. Infante was the first to break the line, followed by Tama-a-roa and Queen Abbey. The Latter ran up to second position after the field crossed the top and turned into the straight. The leader was quickly disposed of when heads were turned for home. Tama-a-roa drew out and passed the post with an advantage of otfe and a-half lengths. Lightning being a short halflength behind Lord Kenilworth, who came with a late run and finished full of running. Infante was fourth. Time 1.15. Queen Abbey was favourite. Totallsator Returns. The investments over the eight races reached £40,338, which is an increase of £BB9B 10s as compared with the figures for the corresponding day of 1920. SECOND DAY. Bv Telegraph—Special Reporter. PAEROA, Monday. The weather is scorchingly hot and the attendance is not as large as Saturday, the special being poorly patronised. After being hung up at Mercer for half-an-hour. it reached Paeroi up to time, only to be stopped for 13 minutes outside the station. Unly a percentage of the passengers caught the first race. Results: — HURDLES HANDICAP.—IJ miles. Romance, 9.0 (Rowe) 1 Shellshock, 11.8 2 Sea De'il, 10.0 3 Also started: Don't, Lady Lyddite, Silver Pine, Welshman, arid Fox Glove. Romance led all the way, and though challenged by Shellshock over the concluding stages, won easily by two lengths, Sea De'il being six lengths away. ' Time 2.50 2-5. Shellshock was favourite. When Don't fell in the Hurdle race, H. Manson had his left collarbone broken. HIKUTAIA HANDICAP, One Mile. Some Fashion, 7.6 (MeTavish) 1 Miss Ellicc, 8.9 ' 2 BrodiQk- 8-7 :t Also started: Stork, Menance. Miss Norval, Trcsso, Mavourneen, Nunerrant. Miss Ellicc went to the front, followed by Some Fashion. Brodick and Miss Ellice set a very solid pai:c, but tired. In Hie last furlong Some Fashion gut up to win by three parts r.r a length, with Brodrlck three lengths away. Time, 1.42 2-5. Miss Ellice was favourite. WAITEKAURI HANDICAP, Five Furlongs. Ring Lupin, 7.0 (Conquest) .. 1 Night Time, 7.10 2 Infante. 7.8 * 3 Also started: Cabellero, Dead Sweet. Cak Abbey, Lady Lilac, Prosper. Rin--Lupin was quickest, to begin, and was never headed, winning by a length and i half from Night Time, who was i length in front of Infante, the half bracket. Infante ami Caballero were favourites. (United Press Association.) Received March 13, 5.5 p.m. MELBOURNE, March 13. There was line warm weather, and a fair attendance for the fourth day of the V.R.C. Autumn Meeting. The going was good. Sunburst was always prominent, and won the Hopeful Stakes comfortably in record race time. Canowindra made a big break early in Hie Gibson Carmiehael Slakes, but died away in the straight. Wymlham wmi decisively. This is Wyndham's second win at tlie meeting, and his owner is Sir Samuel Hordern, of Sydney. Eurythmic won the King's Plate easily. He received a great reception. This is Eurythniie's ilfteenth win out of sixteen starts. Eurythmic, who goes to Sydney on Tuesday, lias now won £16,099 in stakes. He ran the last mile in 1.40. Sonny Foy and Well Off were pacemakers in Nortlieote Handicap, but were beaten at tho distance, where Toison d'Or went to the front, and won well. He is trained by Heywood, and is in the Sydney Cup with 7.4. Grand Fleet jumped badly in the Autumn Steeplechase, but was able to win easily. BhiCxCross gave J. Holt his fifth training success at the meeting. Blue Cross goes to Sydney on Tuesday. The following are the results: — Hopeful Stakes.—Sunburst 1, Sylosen 2, Brack Adder 3.
