FRANKTON SCHOOL PICNIC
The annual picnic of the Frank ton Public School was held at Newstead. The weather was all that could ho desired, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The committee had everything well in hand and provided a good and plentiful assortment of eatables. Every child under seven years was giveu a toy and a bag of lollies. Mr Win 'a visitor from Nelson) thanked the committee on behalf of the children and parents, and congratulated the school on the success of Ihe picnic. The chairman, Mr T. Johnson, in replying thanked the lust speaker for his kind remarks and the parents for coming nut in such g i numbers. He also wished to thank the Xcwstead committee for the use of the school grounds, esi idly Mr I.ye [rha'irman) for his kind assistance. The children (la tn number were also Lo he congratulated on the manner they got in the subscriptions towards the picnic. Through their efforls all II hildron wore aide to [ravel free on the railway, the committee paying all expenses to and from Xcwstead.
The children were happy, though tired on Ihe reiurn journey, and it musl have been ideashiff lo (he cliairman. in whose hands all Ihe arrangements had been left, to have had such a successful picnic.
