AFFAIRS IN TURKEY

ENMITY TO THE SULTAN. NATIONALISTS OVER-REACHED. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) Received February 22, 1.5 a.m. CONSTANTINOPLE, February 20. The Nationalists appear to have overdone the hostile action against ths Sultan, with the result that they have arraigned the whole Imperial family and the dynastic council against themselves. The Angora Assembly recently accepted a motion signed by 18 members, repudiating the present Sultan, and declaring Anatolia independent of Stamboul. The heir-apparent was informed that it had been suggested that he should assume the Sultanate of Anatolia. He refused, and informed the Sultan. The Dynastic Council has affirmed its loyalty to the Sultan.
