NEW ZEALAND BRANCH. ANNUAL .MEETING. By Telegraph.—Press Association. \\ ELLiNGTuN, Monday. The annual meeting of the New Zealand branch of the Empire Press Union was held to-day. There were 21 members present. Sir G. Feiiwick (,chairman) presiding. The following were elected associate members: -Messrs A. Lowry (Times, Dunedin), .Messrs \V. I'. Alexander and J Ash Dunedin), i>r. tiehoileld (Age, Master Ion). The annual report referred to the second conference 01 the Union held in Canada last year, in which seven delegates from New Zealand took part. Mr T. \Y. Leys (chairman of New Zealand delegates) had Ihe honorary degree of LL.D. conferred on him by the McGiil University, and the report congratulated Dr. Lejw on the honour received During the lour of the Prince of Wales, the New Zealand branch of the Union extended him its cordial greetings, and elicited from the Prince a complimentary reference to the New Zealand press. Reference was also made to the loss by death of Messrs G. Junes, 11. Weston, and \V. A Parkinson. The branch had Ji members. The receipts for the year were £llO lGs id and the expenditure £llO 9s lid. Sir G. Fenwick, in moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, delivered an address on the work of the Union. Mr rfc.lig seconded the motion. He spoke in high terms of the way in which the delegates to the Empire Press Conference were treated, both in Canada and London. Mr llorton endorsed Mr Selig's remarks, and stated that lie was informed by Lord I3urnham that if an invitation came from Australia the. next conferonce would be lold there in three and a-half years' time, and in such case an effort should be made to induce the delegates lo visit New Zealand. Mr R. A. Jones also expressed his pleasure at the reception the delegates met with. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. Sir G. Fenwiek was re-elected chairman. The following were selected to the emnmitfeo: Messrs 11. fforlon. L. P. Blundell, |>. S.'lie \\\ C. W'estnn, C. W. Karle. .1. Coombo, A. MeNiroL 11. Brett and R. .1. Gilmour. Mr W. Weston was re-rlectrd auditor, and .Mr \V. Don secretary.
