THE RECENT INCREASE. MR MASSEY STRONGLY PROTESTS FURTHER .ACTION PROBABLE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. WELLINGTON, Tuesday. The Prime Minister lias supplied a summary of the cabled correspondence regarding freight rates on New Zealand meat leading up to Mr Massey's strong protest that the proposed increase in freights is indefensible. in July, 1920, the rates were llxed. and Mr Massey requested the IliFh Commissioner to urge upon the Imperial authorities that rates should be reduced by 5 per cent-, bul Ibis has not so far been enforced, and on February J 1 the freezing companies were advised thai the Imperial Government had found it necessar> to increase Ihe freighl rates. Mr Massey has strongly protested, and. is now aw.dlin-: a reply. Should this not be satisfae • tory he will immediately carry the matter further.
