Wallers, chairman of the Piako County Council, is visiting Hamilton to-day. Mr J- S. Bond, a member of the Auckland Education Board, is in Hamilton to-day. Rev. E. T. Ford, who for the past 12 months has been acting as locum tenens for Rev. E. 0. Blamires during the latter's tour, preached his farewell sermon in St. Paul's (Methodist) Church on Sunday. He will leave for Wellington to-morrow. Last week Mr Ford was farewelled at a social at which the most eulogistic references were made to his work. Feeling .reference to the deaths of Mr R. J. Gwynne and Mr John Edgccumbe was made at the Rowing- Club's social last evening by the president of the club (Mr C. H. Holloway). [n one day, he said, Hamilton had lost two citizens whose place in the community would be hard to fill. As regards Mr Gwynne, the club was under a debt and obligation to him for the assistance he had always been prepared to render it. In his death a true sportsman had gone to his rest. Those present stood as a mark of respect to the 'memory of the two gentlemen mentioned. The death of Mrs VV. H. O'Neill occurred on Sunday night, 20lh inst., <it her residence, Galloway Street. Hamilton East. Mrs O'Neill, who was a daughter of the late Charles MeKenzic, was born in Australia, and landed in New Zealand in 186 i in the ship BallaMarina, and had spent practically the whole of her life in Hamilton. Mrs O'Neill will no doubt be sadly missed, as she was very popular, and, being in old and highly respected resident, w!H always be remembered.
