DROWNED WHILE BATHING. By Telegraph.—Press Association. DUNEDIN, Tuesday. Agnes Elli< ft Hendry, aged IP, was accidentally drowned while bathing at Tomahawk Beach. Heavy seas were running, and the girl was seen to he carried into the breakers, She was got ashore with difficulty, and first aid measures were adopted, but without success, FATAL INJURIES, WELLINGTON, Tuesday. Joseph Rainsley, a waterside worker, who had his left foot torn off, and was otherwise injured, as the result of being entangled in a wire rope on the steamer Port Nicholson, died last night in the hospital. A FATAL FIRE. GULYMOUTH, Tuesday. A fire attended by fatal consequences originated in Mucky Street in a bicycle shop occupied by W. Gamble. The body of a married man, named Thomas Bernard Sheehy, employed as a. messenger, aged (is, was found lying in the gully below the wireless station, with (he throat cut, and an open razor lying close by. DEATH AT SEA. AUCKLAND, Tuesday. During the voyage of Hie Bimutaka from London a ship’s waiter, E. Leach, a New Zealander, died of heart failure, and was buried at sea. Deceased, who was a married man, aged 40, signed on at Wellington. FATAL PTOIViAINE POISONING. WELLINGTON, Tuesday. Mr Kevin Dillon, the, well-known elocutionist, died suddenly from the effects of ptomaine poisoning on Sunday. Peritonitis supervened, and an operation was performed, but deceased gradually sank. He was 48 years of age. and leaves a willow and four young children. The New York health authorities are alarmed over the danger of a typhus epidemic arising from- infected immigrants.
