Mr Beale, manager of a Cork wine merchant's business, is missing, and it is believed he has been kidnapped. His l'atluir-in-taw and Hie tatter’s son were kidnapped and shot in December. Francis 'Peeling, who was sentenced to death for the murder of Lieut. McMahon during (he Dublin troubles in November, escaped from Kilmainham gaol. One report states that the Sinn Feiners attacked the gaol, and carried off Techng . Dublin Castle denies the reported starvation in West Kerry, and states that the embargo is only on foodstuffs, which are plentiful in the district.
