THE PRESIDENT'S VETO. OP THE PROPOSED REDUCTION. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) WASHINGTON, February 4. Mr Wilson vetoed a resolution fixing the size of the army at 170,000. The President said conditions in the United States and the world at large did not justify a reduction. He called attention to the fact that Congress last summer fixed the size of the army at 280,000. Brigadier-General Mitchell, assistant Chief of the' Army Air Service, told the House Navy Committee that the United Slates would be unable to-day to prevent an aerial attack on America from England.
